My respect for police officers and firefighters isn’t something I developed overnight. It was shaped by the people who influenced my life from an early age. My grandmother, whom I fondly called Mamaceille, taught me the importance of serving others with kindness, core morals, and integrity during my childhood summers in Columbia, Mississippi.

Later, my experiences as an Explorer Scout with the LAPD’s 77th Division under my exceptional advisors, Officers Ken Mainor and Leonard Ross, and my ride-alongs with Sergeant Tim Anderson gave me a firsthand appreciation for the professionalism, patience, and sacrifice required of those who wear the badge. Sergeant Anderson masterfully showed me exactly how to communicate and deal with people during high-stress situations.
